Throughout the month of March, Mildura Waves took part in the Cancer Council’s March Charge to raise funds for life saving cancer research.

With the final donations now received, we’re overwhelmed to announce that with the help of our community, a grand total of $5,827 was raised with 100% of these funds going directly to the Cancer Council.

The March Charge is a virtual fitness challenge (held annually in March) with participants setting a kilometre and fundraising goal to aim for throughout the month.

To support our fundraising efforts, a number of events were hosted throughout the month including:

  • Walk and Talk Sessions – Every Saturday morning our team met at Mildura Waves and walked together to achieve our kilometre targets
  • Membership promotion with all joining fees donated to the Charge, raising over $500 alone
  • March Charge Bootcamp with all session fees donated to the Charge
  • Silent action of a Signed 2020 Richmond Football Club Jumper

The Mildura Waves Team wish to give special thanks to local community members, Stacey Armstrong and Marina Durban.

Stacey and her family were the winners of our silent auction, claiming the Signed 2020 Richmond Football Club Jumper after submitting a very generous bid towards the cause. As passionate Richmond supporters, her family saw this as a way to contribute to a wonderful cause, whilst securing a special piece of history for their grandfather who has a collection of Richmond memorabilia.

Marina was our highest performing fundraiser, setting herself a target of $500 and smashing that with an incredible $1,089 raised with 25 people sponsoring her throughout the Charge. Not only did Marina smash her fundraising target, but she also charged ahead to beat her kilometre goal by over 35kms. An outstanding individual effort and one we are very grateful for! Thank you Marina!

We also wish to thank everyone who showed support for the Mildura Waves March Charge this month by donating in centre or by supporting our events, and most of all for being there for people impacted by cancer when they need it the most.

With this year’s event now behind us, we plan to go even bigger in 2022 and hope to see you join us!
